ALAF Limited – A Safal Group Company has a long and successful association with Tanzania. Established in 1960, ALAF has emerged as a pioneer in Roofing and Long products. Today ALAF provides complete roofing solutions for all types of buildings, both for residential as well as commercial building. It is also the leading manufacturer of flat and long steel products in the country.

ALAF manufactures high quality ZINCAL (Zinc – Aluminium coated coils). The new plant has an installed capacity of 70,000 tonnes per annum with technology for the production process sourced from BIEC International Inc, USA, world leaders in the field. Products of ALAF include ZINCAL (Zinc – Aluminium coated coils), SIMBA DUMU (Zincal base corrugated roofing sheets), LIFESTILE (Stone – coated metal roofing tiles), SIMBA CHUMA (Steel pipes, sections, MS Plates and Z-Purlins), STEEL – BEND (Cut and Bend of steel bars), QUIK-MOVERS (Pre – fabricated mobile home / offices), STRAKCHA (Scaffolding systems) and ULTRASPAN (Light gauge steel truss systems).

ALAF also has a mobile roofer, SAFLOK-700, which can be placed at the construction site to make customised SAFLOK-700 profiled sheet up to 150 metres in a single length. ALAF Limited incorporates best business practices through application of Kaizen techniques and innovative technical solutions to achieve world-class manufacturing standards. Products manufactured by ALAF conform to International as well as Tanzania Bureau of Standards quality norms. ALAF Limited has become the first and only Company in its category in Tanzania to be accredited with ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001-2005 based on its quality standards and commitment towards environment.

Reflecting its commitment to the Country, ALAF has undertaken extensive social responsibility obligations. The Company does this by sharing some of its profit with the Community. Among recent initiatives has been the provision of mosquito nets to its staff to help them in the protection against Malaria, along with HIV/AIDS education programmes. The Company has also built a dispensary in its compound where Company staff and their families can receive treatment when they get sick.

In 2003 ALAF opened its new branch in Mbeya to cater to Southern Highlands region, and two new Company Showroom – ROOF Gallery at Dar es Salaam and Arusha. This is in addition to its existing Head Office at Dar es Salaam and branches in Arusha (Kilimanjaro region), Mwanza (Lake region) and Mbeya (Southern Highland region).

ALAF has been winning the President’s Best Manufactures Of The Year Award (in the Large Industries Category) Instituted by the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI), for the last seven years in succession.
